Why Is Talking About Death So Hard?
In General Discussion
May 16, 2022
Besides the tendency for the topic to be a "bummer," some folks might be a little superstitious! "If I talk about it, it's gonna happen..." Right? I figure, everyone is going to die and we really never know when. Tim McGraw's song, "Live Like You Were Dying" has an extreme title, but the sentiment is spot on: Take advantage of the time you have, doing the things you love with the people you love, to the best of your ability. If we can talk about end-of-life issues today, while we are living our best life, there's a really good chance that when the time comes, your death will be much easier for loved ones and friends. They'll be able to celebrate someone who lived life to the fullest, to share great stories about you, your family won't have to be more involved in the details of planning your funeral. Thinking about how you want to be remembered and documenting it for your family — and discussing it with your family — is part of living your best life!
